Do you want to get to know yourself on a deeper level? Are negative experiences of the past influencing how you show up in the world today? Is anxiety or depression blocking you from experiencing the fullness of life? Hello! My name is Blyss Dean, a PLPC at Clarté Counseling. I believe a solid therapeutic alliance with my client is the most important part of the counseling process. I want to create a safe space for you to feel open to sharing your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. You are the expert of your life! Through an Internal Family Systems informed lens, I aim to help you increase self-awareness while bringing compassion and understanding to all parts of yourself and your lived experience. Curiosity and increased awareness allow you to break out of dysfunctional patterns, accept all parts of yourself, and restore harmony and balance to your life. I believe through understanding and compassion comes healing and clarity and the opportunity to live a full life based on your values and goals. It is my goal to empower each client to move forward as the best version of themselves and to make the changes they desire in life.
I also work with children and adolescents through a similar framework of curiosity, compassion, self-awareness, and understanding. Enhancing emotional intelligence through self-awareness helps clients understand how emotions show up in their bodies and affect their behavior. Increased awareness also leads to emotional regulation, empathy, and improved social skills. Utilizing play therapy helps younger clients learn about themselves, express their thoughts and feelings appropriately, learn ways of managing their behavior, and learn to solve future problems. Discovering ways to enhance the connection between caregiver and child is another important part of the process in helping clients flourish.
I earned my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University. Prior to pursuing this degree, I taught elementary school, tutored foreign students in English online, and homeschooled for a combined 15 years. I am also a certified yoga instructor, and have taught yoga, breathwork, and introductory meditation classes.
It's my passion to keep learning about the human mind, emotions, mindfulness, and the counseling process in general. As a PLPC, I offer sessions on a sliding scale and work under the supervision of Julius Austin, LPC-S and Robyn Sonnier, LPC-S.
