adolescents, eating disorders and suicidal ideation
BCBS, UHC/UMR, Private Pay
After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University, Emma discovered during her student teaching experience that her true passion lay in supporting the emotional well-being of young people. She went on to complete her Master’s Degree in School Counseling at LSU, where she deepened her commitment to helping children and adolescents navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
A Lafayette native, Emma returned home after graduation and eventually transitioned into full-time private practice, where she now dedicates her career to providing individualized, compassionate mental health care to young people and their families. As the co-owner of Clarté Counseling, Emma is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in child and adolescent therapy, anxiety treatment, depression counseling, and behavioral health support. She also serves as a Licensed Supervisor, mentoring newly graduated counselors as they begin their professional journeys.
Emma is one of the few providers in Louisiana trained by the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) and is currently working toward becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). She is under the supervision of Eleanor B. McAuliffe, LPC-S, CEDS-C, an IAEDP-approved supervisor, as she completes the advanced training and clinical requirements for certification. With this specialized focus, Emma provides evidence-based care for eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and co-occurring issues such as anxiety, depression, and self-harm. She supports clients across Louisiana through both in-person and Telehealth therapy.
Emma’s counseling approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact. She integrates Health at Every Size (HAES) principles and a strong emphasis on body respect, self-compassion, and long-term emotional wellness. Emma works collaboratively with clients to identify patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and build practical coping skills—empowering them to create meaningful, sustainable change.
“I believe that children and young adults are incredibly resilient,” Emma says. “My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can process their experiences and feel empowered to grow.”
Emma offers in-person and Telehealth counseling for clients ages 12 and up across Louisiana.
