Katie Roy

Hello! My name is Katie Roy, and I am a counseling intern here at Clarté. I am currently pursuing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I believe that clients are the experts on their own lives, and my role as a counselor is not to guide or direct, but to be curious, present, and engaged. I view counseling as a collaborative and relational process. I strive to build genuine relationships with my clients and to create a safe, supportive space where vulnerability and understanding can naturally unfold.

My interests in the counseling field include life transitions, self-esteem and self-worth, emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, and LGBTQIA+ related concerns. I am also interested in working with children and couples. I approach counseling with openness and respect, honoring each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and identities. The counseling relationship should be a place where clients feel heard, valued, and supported as they navigate challenges and change. It is my hope to walk alongside clients with empathy and curiosity, fostering a nonjudgmental environment where people feel safe enough to be authentically themselves. Together, we can work toward deeper understanding, connection, and meaningful growth!
